Supporting the health and wellbeing of our whole community has always been at the heart of our provision at Upton. We are passionate about laying strong foundations for every child to understand their unique self, enabling them to grow, learn and thrive.

Through circle time, form time and our weekly Wellbeing and RSHE lessons, children are given the opportunity to develop effective emotional and social skills, explore practical tools to boost confidence and resilience, learn about positive relationships and understand how to stay safe and healthy.

Bert the Worry Monster is our classroom wellbeing mascot, and we also have a dedicated team of staff and children who are our Wellbeing Ambassadors promoting awareness across the school through assemblies, campaigns and posters.  The team are here to support where needed running break time drop-ins for children as well as individual sessions with our ELSA (Emotional Learning Support Assistant).   We have a dedicated Wellbeing Room and a library of helpful resources and books that everyone is welcome to use. This is a fantastic support for our whole school community.

Children in Pre-Prep and Prep can join our extra-curricular Mindfulness and Wellbeing Club which is run by Mrs Hewitt who is our qualified Mindfulness and Mindfulness in Nature Teacher. We make full use of our garden which includes sensory areas and an outdoor wellbeing space.

Parents are invited to talks and workshops each term sharing information to support their family’s wellbeing. These are also broadcasted to enable everyone to have access to these resources at their convenience.

This year we are delighted to be members of The Wellbeing Hub which is an online portal offering a wealth of mental health and wellbeing resources designed by experts.
